On her blog The Medium, NYT writer Virginia Heffernan takes to task bloggers who left ScienceBlogs.com in the wake of PepsiCo being given a food and nutrition blog. The situation was bad because there had been no effort from SB owner Seed Media Group to consult with the site's bloggers about the "advertorial" blog. I've written a longer piece on it at Love in the Time of Chasmosaurs. Basically, the situation crossed the line. Heffernan got it wrong.
"I was nonplussed by the high dudgeon of the so-called SciBlings," Heffernan writes, a line so hilarious I knew it deserved to be a badge of honor, a catchphrase for science bloggers. So I made a bumper sticker at Zazzle.com. It's my first go at something there, though I've been meaning to set something up for a long time. Click the weird, huge image below to check it out!
